GUEST WRITER KYLE WILSON RECOMMENDS GIRL FORGOTTEN BY APRIL HENRY
Picture this: you just moved to a new town and you’re starting at a new school. This school assigns a passion project so you decide on solving a mystery the police couldn’t. This is exactly what happens to Piper Gray, who decides to solve the seventeen-year-old cold case of the murder of Layla Trello.
Seventeen-year-old Piper Gray is a smart and curious high school student. The story centers around Piper as she gets to the truth of what happened to Layla on that fateful night. Piper’s goal is to find the who, what and why of her murder. She needs to figure it out before she becomes the killer’s next victim.
The main plot in Girl Forgotten is starting a podcast to solve a crime. This storyline is extremely popular right now as this book very closely resembles A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, a novel turned into a Netflix television show.
This book is written in verse with only one perspective, which is Piper’s. April Henry’s writing style is easy to read and gives readers just enough hints to figure out the story as they follow along.
This book is a quick and easy read. I would recommend it to fans of thrillers, mysteries and those who enjoyed A Good Girls Guide to Murder. This book is relatively age friendly as it is not graphically gory or gruesome. It would be suitable for ages 12 and above due to the discussion of murder.
Kyle Wilson is a high school student. He is an avid reader that enjoys mysteries and thrillers his favorite author is Stephen King.
