GUEST WRITER EMMA BOWES RECOMMENDS SOMEONE SAW SOMETHING BY RICK MOFINA

Rick Mofina’s Someone Saw Something is the perfect mix of thriller, suspense, and mystery, and is a great way to introduce yourself to any of these three genres. As someone who always wanted to pleasure read, but struggled to get into a book, this was the perfect place to start, as there is cliffhanger after cliffhanger that makes it hard to put the book down.

Readers are brought into the lives of the busy Corado family. Corina is a news journalist, her husband Robert is in the construction business. Together, they have two children, Robert’s daughter Charlotte, who is currently seeing an older man that her parents do not approve of, and Corina’s adopted son Gabriel, who’s adoption causes quite a bit of controversy in Corina’s professional life.

Being the busy family they are, Both Corina and Robert were unable to get out of their work schedules to pick up Gabriel from school, leaving Charlotte with the job. Everything seems fine, until Gabriel goes missing on their way home from school – in Central Park. In this instant, Corina finds herself on the opposite side of a news story – instead of reporting it, she is living it, both on and off-air.

Mofina does an amazing job at inserting small side-conflicts in this story, which is an amazing tactic to keep a new reader engaged. Readers get to see a raw edit of every character, and watch them as they all struggle with their own thing, while simultaneously struggling with the mystery surrounding Gabriel’s disappearance.

With all of this being said, I would recommend this book to everyone. The new pleasure reader, the thrill-chaser, the English teacher who wants to build their classroom library to encourage their students to love reading. It was a game-changer for me, and I feel that it will be just as much for you!
